First, you will need to pick out your bedding set. You can chose one that is pre-made on Amazon:
Or, if you know a seamstress, you can mix and match your own patterns from Fabric.com:
I used “Minky Royal Blue,” “Michael Miller Ta Dot Tangerine,” Lime green stripes that looked like seaweed, and depending on gender, you can simply search “Nemo” or “Dory” to find your favorite!
Next, you will need to pick out blue paint. Be sure it matches the bedding that you selected. We chose 2 tone for contrast and to keep the room bright. The paint colors we chose were from Home Depot: BEHR Electric Blue Hi-Gloss for the bottom, and Skylark for the top.
Now for the best part: THE JELLYFISH!!! I will have a separate blog explaining how to make these. My son loves watching the bright colors as they dance and sway when the ceiling fan is on. I hung them with fishing wire and thumb tacks and never had an issue with them falling down.
My wonderfully talented sister painted some scenes from Finding Nemo for his custom artwork. Don’t you love the one over the changing table?! Get it? “He touched the butt.” Ha!
My husband made the changing table and bookshelf because he is super handy like that. What I love about this theme is that is goes well with dark and white nursery furniture!
Final touches: My kids favorite thing to fall asleep to was this Baby Einsteins underwater sound machine.
This Mickey lamp is perfect to have on as we wind down for bed each night. It creates a warm, calm environment and who doesn’t love some Mickey?
We also have been really impressed with the Nest Baby Monitor. It has never frozen and is always reliable for checking in on our little one.
Having a Girl? Add some pink and make it FINDING DORY themed instead! Either way, you can still use the Jellyfish!
And don’t forget extra crib sheets:
We went with Bright Orange letters for our son’s name because it contrasts so well with the blue and was subtly found in the prints we used.
And the absolute favorite toy once my son was holding his head strong with this Nemo Bouncer:
Your little one is sure to feel right at home in this sweet underwater Finding Nemo Nursery! I hope you have as much fun getting everything ready for their arrival as we did!!!
